Before planning to access data using CD-RWs or CD-Rs, check the hardware for compatibility . Only DVD-ROMs and multi-Read CD-ROM drives can read CD-RWs . Older CD-ROM drives may not be able to read silver CD-Rs

Buffer underrun

If you just brought a super – fast burner , but your copies are unreliable , you may need to check how fast your CD-ROM drive can read data . CD-R and CD-RW drivers have memory buffers to help prevent the interruption of the data stream . If your CD-ROM driver isn’t delivering the data to the CD-recording drive fast enough , it breaks the stream and generates an error called a buffer underrun.
The CD-ROM drive needs to be reading data at least twice as fast as the burner is writing it . For example , a 40X CD-ROM drive may end up reading your files at only 10x . In this case , 6x burner should be set to record at 4x to avoid buffer underruns .

It is recommended that you enable the file/disc caching feature on the device and settings screen to reduce the possibility of buffer underrun

The Right Media

Not all Cd-recordable media are the same . Your result may vary depending upon brand you use .If you notice little pops and clicks in your recordings , find another brand that works better with your burner. Expensive CD-Rs may be more reliable , but it’s not uncommon to find cheaper ones that works just as well .

Also , keep in mind that traditional audio players can’t read CD-RW discs .
