One of the advantages of networking computers is that resources can be shared . Here are some tips on sharing printers on the network .

Installing network printers

You can access a number of shared printer across the network . To do so, you will need to install the printer within Windows . Locate the computer that is sharing the printer on the network form Network Neighbourhood .
Right Click on the shared printer and choose Insatll . The Add printer wizard will guide you through the install . The wizard will offer to print a test page to confirm that tha printer is properly installed .

Setting a local Printer :

If you have printer attached to your computerand want to share it across the network, go to Control Panel -> Printers . Within the printers folder, right click on the printer you want to share and select Sharing . Here , select Shared As and type in the name of the printer in the Share Name Field .
To finish, Click OK. The printer will now be shared across the network .

Restructing Access :

Access control for printers work in much the same way as for shared folders . You can restrict access to the printer to specifc users by typing in a password in the shared Printer menu .
This way only those people with the password will be able to use the printer .
